Mike Barker

A Good Woman

Interviewed by Adrian Hennigan

“ There were at least four chaos moments every morning before 9am ”

Director Mike Barker made the switch from TV to movies in 1997 with the John Hannah/Jason Flemyng crime caper The James Gang. It proved a successful calling card for Hollywood, with sophisticated thriller Best Laid Plans - starring Reese Witherspoon - following two years later. Oliver Cromwell historical drama To Kill A King was overshadowed by financing problems, but Barker puts those troubles far behind him in A Good Woman, an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windemere's Fan. Helen Hunt and Scarlett Johansson star in the comedy-drama, which is updated to 1930s Italy.
