If some of you think I've been avoiding you... well, that may be true when it comes to certain queries. Every now and then though I go back to my sources and weary them out by repeating the question just to make sure that some momentous DVD announcement hasn't passed me by. Like perhaps that Blade Runner might be coming out in a three-disc special edition, and before you go crazy, it's not! Mark Streamer is the latest in a long queue of people to keep asking if this special edition might happen. Sadly it still seems to be in limbo for a number of issues that don't look like they're going to be solved in time for a 2004 release. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong on that one.
I do, though, have a silver lining to Mark's cloud. He was wondering if the old Tom Hanks 80s comedy The 'Burbs might see the DVD light. As it turns out Mark, Universal currently plan a DVD release for March 2005. OK, so it's a year away but don't forget that The Money Pit is already out on disc and selling in some places for a mere fiver should you need your comedy Hanks hit.
More good news? No I don't know how this slipped in either but Mark Stokes has been looking like crazy for a possible Region 2 DVD release for the dark sequel Return To Oz. Given that old VHS tapes sell on eBay for up to £50, I'm not surprised Mark is searching high and low for a disc. Look no further Mark, for a DVD is tentatively scheduled for release on 22nd March.
We'll end this week on an uncertain note for James Hazell. The MTV movie Joe's Apartment you were asking about is now out on Region 1 DVD from Warner Bros. A UK release date has not been set but we should see this disc out in the UK sometime in the next year. Sorry I can't be more specific for you.
Please keep your queries coming in, although remember that some do take longer to research than others. Also please note that I don't deal with questions on non-film DVDs. I'm also always interested to hear your comments on DVDs you've seen and will put any good ones in the column if they are worth sharing with other readers.
