  Hail Governor Arnie!
Good news for film fans - Arnold Schwarzenegger's putting his movie career on hold! As widely reported elsewhere, Arnie has been elected Governor of California, polling 49% of the vote, way ahead of second placed Cruz Bustamante.

The Austrian Oak triumphed despite being at the centre of a series of misconduct allegations during his high-profile campaign. There were several groping accusations, with Arnie finally offering an apology for his actions, noting, "I have behaved badly sometimes. Yes, it is true that I was on rowdy movie sets and I have done things that were not right." There was, however, no official apology for Collateral Damage.

Arnie will concentrate on being the governor of the US's biggest state, so Terminator 4 will just have to wait until he screws up (so, six months then...). Arnie fans will get a glimpse of their hero in The Rock's new film, Rundown, which opens in the UK next January.
  Oliver Garai Can't Stop Dancing
British actress Romola Garai will star in Irish director Damien O'Donnell's next movie, Inside I'm Dancing. The actress is currently shooting Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (aka Dirty Dancing 2) with Mexican hottie Diego Luna. She first came to prominence in Brit costumer I Capture The Castle. Inside I'm Dancing focuses on two boys with cerebral palsy and is set in Ireland. It's O'Donnell's follow-up to the critically acclaimed Heartlands.
  'Nappily'??!??
Real Women Have Curves director Patricia Cardoso will helm Halle Berry's next movie, Nappily Ever After - despite the fact that no movie with a pun in the title has ever worked. The dramedy sees Berry's high-flying advertising exec shave off her beautifully coiffed hair and, er, that's it. Surprising reactions ensue (and that's just from us).
  Wedding Plans For Wilson, Vaughn
Shanghai Knights star Owen Wilson and Blackball's Vince Vaughn will team up for new comedy The Wedding Crashers. The pitch revolves around a couple of guys whose hobby is gatecrashing weddings (and no, they're not gay). Surprise surprise, one of them unexpectedly falls for someone at a wedding. Vaughn has 'previous' with the Wilson clan, having worked with Owen's younger brother Luke on Old School.
  Reese Jumps Into Lake
Reese Witherspoon will star in, and produce, a remake of Bunny Lake Is Missing. The original pic starred Noel Coward and Laurence Olivier, with Carol Lynley playing a mother whose four-year-old daughter disappears just after she's arrived in America. Problem is, nobody believes that her daughter really exists. Witherspoon will play the worried mother this time round.
  McConaughey Arrested Again
Matthew McConaughey will star in Arrested Development, a comedy about an undercover high school narcotics officer who has to retire at the tender age of 30. His delusional character sets out to prove that he still looks 18, hatching a plan to go undercover one last time. Arrested Development is said to be a comedy in the same vein as Zoolander and Old School, which is fine by us. Bongo player extraordinaire McConaughey is currently shooting Sahara, an adaptation of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels.
  Lansbury Feted
BAFTA will present Angela Lansbury with one of its lifetime achievement awards, at the Britannia Awards on 8th November. BAFTA/LA chairman Gary Dartnall called her an "institution in the film, television and theatre communities", adding, "She is truly a treasure we share with the rest of the world." The 79-year-old actress is best known for starring roles in The Manchurian Candidate, Bedknobs And Broomsticks, and daytime TV staple Murder, She Wrote.
