Jackass fans looking for their fill of pain and torture will love this DVD, which is rammed with extra mayhem and foul slapstick.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Apart from the opening scene, the movie is shot on digital video so transfers to disc with good clarity.
Sound The 5.1 mix doesn't have much to do apart from pump out the tunes, as it's the centre speaker that stays busiest with screams galore.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Audio Commentary One Director Jeff Tremaine, cinematographer Dimitry Elyashkevich, and star Johnny Knoxville get together for what's a pretty sober analysis of the film. Problems they encountered on the shoot, the number of takes needed, and technical difficulties make up the most part of their chat.
Audio Commentary Two All the regular Jackass gang are here for track two, but don't expect anything wilder than the first commentary. Using the subtitles is handy here so you can understand what's being said in amongst the laughs. Again though, the chat is quite practical with such facts like gas golfcarts being cheaper than electric ones the pinnacle of excitement here.
MTV's Making of Watch Steve-O do take after take of just uttering one line as he goofs it up. This featurette won't do much to sell his intelligence levels, nor the brainpower of Ehren McGhehey. His contribution is to tell us how the film is different from the TV show because, "it's a bigger screen."
Otherwise there's a fair amount of good behind-the-scenes material on offer, and you get to find out whether Steve-O's tackle really is as big as it seems in that posing pouch of his.
Additional Footage This is where fans will start to enjoy themselves with 19 extra gags to feast on, including a song about a sand vagina, bum thrashing with bamboo, and the failed ending which is truly revolting to watch.
Outtakes As the TV show is all about gags, the outtakes can't be much funnier than what's on there. But there's seven minutes to pick through here, and it's not often you get to see someone farting on a crab...
Additional Extra Features Also on the DVD are two image galleries, cast and crew biographies, two music videos, a trailer and promo spots.
