Behind the scenes with James Bond

On this week's show I went to see the cast of 007's latest adventure on the set of "Die Another Day".

You can watch the second half of the report on next week's show but first of all I asked Pierce Brosnan why he was all geared up for a spot of fencing...

"Bond is looking for information on the bad guy, played by Toby Stephens," he said.

"Bond matches himself against this fellow to provoke him and so we have a whole sword fighting sequence - we start with foils, epees and then we go into sabres and broadswords."

Toby Stephens believes a fundamental challenge faces anyone bringing a Bond enemy to villainous life.

"I think a key thing is for a couple of moments in the film you have to convince an audience that Bond is going to die," Stephens said.

"So you've got to trick them into believing Bond's going to croak at some point. I had to keep pinching myself, because I grew up on Bond films, to suddenly be in one was kind of weird [laughs]."

As well as the gadgets there are of course the stunts created by the legendary Vic Armstrong, who's been getting Bond into - and out of - mortal danger for an incredible 37 years. It's a heck of a track record but one that creates its own problems.

"The hardest thing on any Bond film is coming up with something original," he said. "I stay awake at nights, I can't sleep, just trying to come up with something..."

Nevertheless working on Bond is a thrill for all involved. To see what it's really like click here to watch the behind-the-scenes report.
