Do you enjoy working with Morgan Freeman?
Well, he's very kind, incredibly talented and his wife is a fantastic cook. So I get it all by entering into this relationship. I've also learned from him that good acting is just seamless and you can't fake it. You never see his technique but you always see his performance and it really drives me crazy!
Do you have a good time on set?
I respect Morgan's space and don't interfere when he's trying to learn his lines. We're very lighthearted but we don't fool around. Ultimately that's not professional. But you might go to the camera operator and ask him to keep rolling after we're done with the scene, at the end of the last take, there's a place for something like that.
How have you cornered the market in capable women?
I have all those scripts in my cellar! They're horded! People are always telling me I play strong and capable women and it never really echoed in my head as being entirely true. So I've put some thought into it and ultimately what I've concluded is that in "Ruby in Paradise", "Smoke", "Heat", and all these other pictures, I've played women who are hurt and who are coping. In some instances, they are bright women who have a lot of skills and resiliency and in other instances, like in Norma Jean and Marilyn, they're incredibly emotional and vulnerable. I did "High Crimes" because it's very dramatic. It's an incredible up and down journey and there are a lot of very good scrapes!
