Marilyn Monroe and Robert Mitchum take to a torrential river in a flimsy raft to pursue her no-good husband at the height of a gold rush. The Canadian Rockies provide a visually spectacular backdrop to this film, which has now been enhanced for home entertainment like never before.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Unless you saw it at the cinema, most of you will have experienced a bleary pan and scan TV version. The laserdisc releases of this movie were an improvement, but the restoration work that's gone into transferring this Cinemascope wonder to DVD has produced a minor miracle. Rich colours, detail, and the proper depth that the cinematography originally had are now revived for your viewing pleasure. A perfect example of how a fair film on TV becomes a great viewing experience on DVD, once some TLC has been applied to its presentation.
Sound A new 4.0 sound mix does wonders for the music score, making good use of the front speakers to enhance the ethereal quality of some of the songs.
