"Osmosis Jones" emerges on a somewhat lacklustre DVD, that's great if you want to watch the movie but dull if you crave entertaining extra features.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture The animated sequences come out looking cleaner than the live-action scenes, in a transfer that doesn't throw up any technical ickiness to add to the on-screen yuck.
Sound The sound engineers obviously had some fun with this busy 5.1 mix, that transforms your living room into Frank's body with comedic verve.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Audio Commentary The animation directors and the writer team up for a somewhat boring commentary that consists of pointing out "cool shots", and discussing the incredible three years that went into making this motion picture event.
HBO First Look Probably the 'Only Look' anyone took at the story behind the making of this film. Brandy hosts this featurette, which does include some good interview footage with David Hyde Pierce and Chris Rock, but little else of interest.
Behind-the-Scenes Just who are these featurettes aimed at? It sure isn't younger viewers who want a fun look at a silly film. For this slice of boredom, we're treated to a chat about animating around voices. Sure, the technology is good but this isn't new.
Deleted Scenes Look what they found in the bin. Rubbish!
Additional Extra Features The menu design on this DVD is fun and well conceived. You'll see this if you go to "Choose a Foul Scene"; an extra feature that'll take you to the gross moments. The problem is, all the other added extras will not appeal to the target audience, and that's poor marketing.
