Christopher Walken is the warrior for hire in this tough but somewhat staid adaptation of Frederick Forsyth's novel. The action scenes are pretty tame by today's standards, but MGM has knocked out a fresh-looking DVD release.
Picture Made back in 1981, this film always had Jack Cardiff's cinematography going for it, and MGM has sourced a good print for this transfer. The result is clean, with minimal grain.
Sound Upgraded to a surround mix, the battle scenes gain effects like rear gunfire, but lack decent bass support for explosive power.
Just a trailer, but the effort put into the transfer of the film makes this a disc well worth considering if you're a fan of the movie.
Ratio: 1.85:1 (anamorphic)
Sound: Dolby Digital 2.0 (surround)
Extra Features: Scene selection, multiple languages and subtitles, and English and German captions for the hearing impaired.
