For those of you disappointed by the lack of Don Swayze movies available on DVD, you may find solace with the noisy "Road House", starring his somewhat more successful brother, Patrick. Produced by Joel Silver, it's the usual blend of action over story as Patrick plays a philosophy student intent on returning order to the Double Deuce bar, in his new role as a kung fu-enhanced bouncer. Plus, you may spot Don as a bad guy, too - what heaven!
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Every gleam of Patrick's baby-oiled body glints and flashes away in what is a relatively clean transfer, dedicated to bringing you every tanned sinew of Swayze in impeccable detail.
Sound Michael Kamen composes, the Jeff Healy Band perform, and the ensuing racket forms the musical accompaniment to this large helping of 80s nonsense. It's wrapped all around you, courtesy of a surround track that you may want to adjust the delay on your amp for, as it carries perhaps a little too much echo.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Cheesy films like these are ripe for a little featurette that would at least offer you the selection of unintentionally funniest lines from the movie, and perhaps a short masterclass in Swayze bouncer moves. Or maybe even a featurette that establishes just how grizzly Sam Elliott is in this movie compared to his other movie roles. Alas we have only a trailer to watch.
