9½ Weeks DVD (1986)

It caused a mild media scandal upon its release, but what's disturbing about the soft porn flick "9½ Weeks" is that it's pretty tame stuff these days. Aficionados of all that is lewd from the 80s, or just the thought of seeing Kim Basinger naked, may want to replace their worn-out tapes with this new DVD release, although there's little that's special about it.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture This film is soft focus territory so was never going to look razor sharp on disc. It's a fair transfer, but grain does creep into some of the darker-lit scenes and the print is a little worn.

Sound A whole host of 80s tunes blare throughout the movie, and all get to make good use of a sturdy 2.0 surround mix that doesn't flinch from a single synthesised musical note.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Oh bum! Just a trailer. Could we not have had a retrospective interview with Kim Basinger on how much she hates this movie? Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to dream...
