Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Interviewed by James Mottram

What was "Jay and Silent Bob" director Kevin Smith like?

Kevin was so nice and giving; he lets you do what you want. He let me play this character who had short blonde hair and wore big black-rimmed glasses - it's very different for me. I've just changed my hair back.

And you get to play Jason Mewes' [Jay] love interest...

Yes, I play Jay's love interest in it. They're travelling across country, and they run into me and a group of girls. The other girls that I'm with are really evil, and we end up setting them [Jay and Silent Bob] up against my will. The great thing was, there are so many cameos in the film, we got to work with all these different people.

Who makes your favourite cameo appearance?

I got to meet Mark Hamill and see him work a little bit. He signed some " Star Wars" posters for us. I saw the fight scenes he had, which were really cool. He was really into making fun of himself and "Star Wars".

You also have "Thir13en Ghosts" coming out in 2002. What can you tell us about that?

It's a horror film. Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis produced it. To me, it's really about this family who have lost touch with reality, and they feel that money is the answer to all their problems. They find out in the end, though, that money is not the answer and they just needed each other.

Does this make you a scream queen then?

I do scream in it, but the movie isn't just about horror, there's a real story happening there. Just because I do one horror movie... I want to do a little bit of everything. If it classifies me, that's you classifying me.

"Thir13en Ghosts" opens here on Friday 15th February 2002.
