Morgan Freeman returns as detective Alex Cross for another helping of clearly audience pleasing thrills, judging by the box office performance of "Along Came a Spider". No doubt the DVD will also do rather well, and it's likely to please most on a technical level.
A rich fault free picture transfer awaits you on this disc - a quality veneer that's always pleasing on the eye.
This is a thriller, so get ready for a heavily bass-laced Jerry Goldsmith music score, courtesy of a 5.1 sound mix that's also has some nice rear atmospherics for the creepier moments. It's also quite capable of handling the deep growlings of a man whose voice is like a gravel drive with a 100-a-day habit - Mr bad-ass himself, Michael Wincott.
Paramount are clearly getting the hang of this DVD lark. Not content with just putting trailers on, they've gone and put a 'making of' featurette on this DVD too! It's the usual mix of interviews where the actors discuss their characters, mixed in with some backslapping and behind-the-scenes footage. Just make sure that you don't watch it before the main feature, as it does give away most of the plot.
