"Jason Goes to Hell" and takes the audience with him in this shoddy supposed finale to the "Friday the 13th" series. It's hard to know who would want to buy this DVD, especially when it's such a lacklustre effort.
We don't like the pan and scan fullscreen here, but it does sell (sadly), and it's hard to imagine that seeing this film in widescreen would do it any favours. Unfortunately the fullscreen transfer this DVD offers is very poor. The print looks dirty, and grain creeps into any available shadows.
The 2.0 surround mix is quite good with some half-decent thunder effects for the rear speakers. The unfortunate side effect is that the ultra cheap music score also gets the surround treatment, and that's a dog that should have been put down long ago.
Extra features consist of film notes from Gordon Dale and the original trailer. Dale's notes give a brief overview of US slasher films and are fine, but he should have given at least a passing mention to earlier Italian slasher flicks to offer proper context to his guide.
Sound: Dolby Digital 2.0 (Surround)
Extra Features: Scene selection, Gordon Dale film notes, trailer, and English subtitles for the hearing impaired.
