Shenanigans of the decidedly stiff-upper-lip kind abound in the thriller "The Tailor of Panama", which has been released on a well tailored DVD.
It's a new film on a Columbia TriStar DVD which can only mean that it's another cracker in the picture quality department with sharp, colour-rich visuals throughout.
The 5.1 sound mix is just as good, with the music score blending in perfectly with subtle atmospherics that will turn your living room into a Panamanian paradise.
On the subject of Panama, they weren't going to let John Boorman film there, as he recalls in his audio commentary. The President was only won over when she realised that her favourite film star, Pierce Brosnan, would be appearing in it. Boorman proves to be an affable guide through the movie and is never less than complimentary of the people he worked with.
Boorman also offers a commentary for the alternate ending, which is a shade more dramatic (and silly) than the one in place.
After such hearty helpings of Boorman, why not see if you can squeeze in a joint interview with Pierce Brosnan and Geoffrey Rush. Filmed by an idiot, it's a vaguely interesting affair that's completely spoilt by camera work so shoddy, and direction so inept, that you might be tempted to watch a new British film instead.
