Sliding Doors DVD (1998)

Gwyneth Paltrow lives out two alternate storylines in one day in this highly popular comedy. If there's a gap in your romantic, feel-good movie collection, then the new DVD release is certainly worth considering.

Picture quality is pleasingly good with a fresh and clear veneer on offer throughout.

The 5.0 sound mix lacks the lower frequencies that the busy and funky selection of music could have exploited, but it utilises the other speakers well. Just remember not to look surprised in front of your contemporaries when Dido's "Thank You" comes on with the end credits. Instead, seize upon their confusion by telling them that Eminem is a big fan of "Sliding Doors"...

Extra features consist of subtitles, which you can flick on and off while you ponder why Paramount couldn't at least sling a trailer on the DVD. Sure, we'd have complained about that too, but would still grudgingly admit that the disc is worth getting if you like the movie.
