Region 1 Latest

Remembered with fond affection by some, there will no doubt be a flurry of interest for the Disney DVD Region 1 release of "Tron" in January 2002. There's no word on extra features yet (except to expect them) but a new transfer and re-mixed soundtrack is definite.

Michael Dudikoff made an appearance in "Tron" but most of you will more likely remember him from "American Ninja". This classic from the Cannon Film Group was designed to launch him as the new James Dean. While that didn't happen, a DVD release is planned for 2nd October. There's no word on any of the details, although MGM don't tend to put a lot of effort into extra features for most of their back catalogue titles.

A month later on 6th November, Warner Bros will release the David Lean classic "Doctor Zhivago". The audio commentary should be a real treat, with Sandra Lean (wife of David) teaming up with Omar Sharif and Rod Steiger to share memories of this winner of five Oscars. Expect also a re-mastered print, a new 5.1 sound mix, a new documentary, ten featurettes from the time of release and much more.

Region 2 Latest

It's only taken 22 years, but finally UK audiences will be able to see Bruce Lee's "Game of Death" as it should have been seen, courtesy of Hong Kong Legends. They will release a two-disc platinum edition on 22nd October, which will include the incredible nunchaku battle between Bruce Lee and his student Dan Inosanto, which was previously banned by the BBFC (what were they thinking?). Expect a restored and remastered transfer, a 5.1 sound mix, a commentary from Bey Logan, animated biographies, Bruce Lee trailer archive, deleted scenes including 'lost' footage, rare photo archive, 'Legacy of the Dragon' documentary, 'Game of Death Re-visited' featurette, history of Jeet Kune Do feature, "Game of Death" retrospective, interview gallery, and more.
