For a film made in 1978, this DVD transfer looks better than many films made in the 90s. Fresh and vivid, this is an unexpected delight to watch.
While Universal saw fit to re-mix the "Jaws" DVD in 5.1, this sequel sadly doesn't qualify. What you do get is a clear, strong mono signal, but John Williams' music score really demands the added bass that a 5.1 effort could have lent it.
Still, this is no sloppy release as the quality of the extra features demonstrates. Of particular interest is an informative 45-minute documentary on the making of the film, which includes interviews with the cast, producers, director, and the special effects crew. The bits you missed are covered in the deleted scenes section, and John Williams discusses re-visiting the original "Jaws" music in an exclusive interview.
Two galleries of storyboards, production stills, behind-the-scenes images, marketing material, and trailers wrap up a disc so good, you might be tempted to revise your opinion on "Jaws 2".
