A few good stunts and a fast pace help pass the time during this otherwise routine action thriller from the director who brought us the vastly more entertaining "Commando". Still, Brandon Lee fans will be keen to know how this mismatched-buddies martial arts flick transfers to DVD. The result is much like the film: unspectacular.
The movie does boast typically pro cinematography from Mark Irwin, and the transfer to disc is not bad at all. It seems that the bad guys in the film prefer dark hideouts, complete with steam and sleazy neon. The DVD handles it all pretty well with good levels of detail throughout.
Slightly more disappointing is the 2.0 surround mix. The repetitive synth score from David Michael Frank makes the most use of the speakers, but the action is disappointingly often confined to the centre. Additionally, the gunfire effects in the film lack bass or punch.
As for extra features, there's a trailer that's perhaps better watched after the movie rather than before it. The DVD is a perfectly competent release, but there's little to get excited about here.
