Shown umpteen times on British TV, this mildly entertaining Hercule Poirot film turns up on a rather good US DVD.
Picture quality is fine, with the sunny locations benefiting most from the fresh-looking transfer.
The sound mix is mono, which is perhaps a slight shame as Cole Porter scored the music, but it's strong and perfectly adequate otherwise.
Anchor Bay has got hold of the original 15-minute promotional featurette for the movie, and it's an entertaining affair. Most of the interviews are a little on the dull side, but it's a rarity to see talent like James Mason, Maggie Smith, Roddy McDowall, and Diana Rigg assembled on a DVD featurette. Rigg is in no doubt as to what her character is like, and to prove it she offers her nails to the camera and says, "Only bitches wear nails like this."
Also included on the disc are cast and crew biographies and a beautifully animated main menu.
