The passionate drama of James Joyce's love for Nora Barnacle, and the writings they inspired are examined in "Nora". It's a beautifully shot film that's well worth experiencing on DVD.
The picture transfer is not anamorphic (a process that carries extra coding to create a more detailed picture on a widescreen TV), but despite this it still looks very good. There's little faulting the sharp image quality and muted colour tones.
A 2.0 sound mix accompanies the film and it's surprisingly atmospheric. All the necessary effects like the hustle and bustle of Dublin help immerse you into the movie, while the cracking thunder and rain in chapter seven should jolt you out of your seat.
Included on the disc are interviews with the principal stars of the film Ewan McGregor and Susan Lynch. McGregor talks mainly about the pleasure making a film without the interference of a big studio, while Lynch concentrates on describing her character. Director Pat Murphy is also interviewed and offers her thoughts on the main themes of the movie. She can be seen at work courtesy of the short behind-the-scenes footage that's included on this quality disc.
