A must have title in any Tom Cruise collection, "The Firm" is a superb thriller that really shines on DVD.
Director Sydney Pollack is a master of creating polished movies and the DVD release brings out his trademark veneer with a glorious picture. Some of the darker interior shots pick up a little grain, but thankfully there are few of them.
Paramount have put together another brilliant 5.1 sound mix that adds the type of subtle atmospherics that distinguishes this thriller from others. Dave Grusin's music score is equally pleasing with rich, warm tones throughout.
Disappointingly, the only extras are two trailers. A commentary from Sydney Pollack would have been nice - he did a great job with the "Random Hearts" DVD, even if the film itself is not among his best.
