Clueless DVD (1995)

The delightful school comedy "Clueless" contains Alicia Silverstone's best performance to date, playing the dizzy, teenage fashion queen, Cher. It's a fun film to revisit, especially when it's on DVD.

Fashion has moved on and it's obvious that the tastes for 1995 were bright. The DVD transfer handles the many vivid colour schemes well, despite some of the gaudy combinations Alicia attempts to co-ordinate.

The 5.1 sound mix is as busy as the many wardrobe changes, and there are plenty of 1995 hits to keep your toes tapping and the sub woofer booming.

The only extras on the disc are two trailers, which are a bit of a bore. Many hip, school comedies have been made since "Clueless" but this film benefits from a very clever script that could have provided an interesting basis for a commentary from director/writer Amy Heckerling.
