The Octagon DVD (1980)

Plenty of seasoned action fans will remember that old Chuck Norris classic, "The Octagon". Time has not been too kind with this movie but there's still plenty of cheesy fun to be relived through the new DVD release.

It's another budget £10 disc from MIA, the distributor who also brought you those other Norris epics "Good Guys Wear Black", "A Force of One", and "Silent Rage".

In this slightly overlong adventure, Chuck is forced to take on a training camp of elite kung fu terrorists, led by his evil half brother (not played by Chuck's real brother Aaron who, nonetheless, is in the film). It was always a film that looked a little murky on VHS and it's not much better on DVD, although some of the darker scenes are a touch sharper.

The 2.0 sound mix is firmly mono but again a little clearer than on the videotape.

Any fans of this mature slice of Chuck will at least rejoice in being able to skip the first half hour, which drags with unnecessary plot development!
