Eddie Murphy - The Klump Family

Nutty Professor II: The Klumps

Interviewed by Film 2000 with Jonathan Ross

Why did you take on the challenge of playing all the Klump family members?

No one's done anything like this before. I know people have done multiple character stuff, but not with the modern visual effects where you have the characters interact with each other. I like doing character stuff because I've been making movies for almost 20 years. After you've been in pictures for a while, people have certain expectations. When I put on make-up it erases my skin and I've got a whole new place to go.

After the first movie, the family got so much attention. Did this suggest to you that the family should move centre stage in this movie?

Absolutely, the idea was to make a movie that revolved around the family because of the two dinner scenes in the first movie. Everybody liked them. It was like if we can get those characters up and around and have them interact with each other it would be a unique piece of acting.
