Alan McLean

Alan McLean is a freelance Camera Assistant (AC) and filmmaker based out of Glasgow and an admitted movie geek. He studied photography and sound engineering in school before working in Glasgow's music scene as a visual artist, filming, editing and adding visual effects for nightclub installations.

He worked uncredited as miscellaneous crew on a few local short / feature length films and had a short placement as an assistant editor which saw him work on filmed archives of theatre productions, including, Vanishing Point's 'Beggar's opera' and The National Theatre of Scotland's production of Lorca's 'The House of Bernarda Alba' before going on to study Television at college.

Deciding to take a serious turn at writing, his screenplay 'Scala Inferno' was adapted into a short film by Luke Aherne and Mark Loftus, who went on to produce 'Sun Burn', adapting another of his scripts which Alan directed himself.

Alan has recently completed filming on his 2nd short film 'Aftermath' and when not working on his own material he can be found on other peoples film sets, working as a grip or gaffer, lighting, camera and anything else that's required.
