Writer/director Simon Ellis keeps a video diary from one of the world's leading short film festivals.
Having just won the international competition at Toronto's Worldwide Film Festival with his Cinema Extreme short Soft, Simon Ellis recently attended Hamburg Short Film Festival with the same film, and two others. A regular visitor to Hamburg since winning the Audience Award there in 2001, this time he took a camera with him and attempted to capture the unique atmosphere of this important German festival.
In the video above you can catch a glimpse of the 'Wall Is A Screen' event, which is about as punk rock as film exhibition gets, and see Simon almost miss out on collecting an unexpected award - at a ceremony he wasn't even attending. Very crafty, those Hamburgers...
