Scenes Of A Sexual Nature director Ed Blum talks about the joys of shooting on Hampstead Heath.
Scenes Of A Sexual Nature has been one of the most notable low budget British releases of recent years. An ensemble romantic comedy produced for just over £250,000, it's remarkable for its ability to attract a busload of A-list of British acting talent to Hampstead Heath for a four-week shoot in the summer of 2005. The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Catherine Tate, Adrian Lester, Mark Strong, Gina McKee and Hugh Bonneville, who all agreed to work for minimum Equity rates.
The film is set in one afternoon on the Heath and is directed by Ed Blum, a newcomer to features who has amassed plenty of TV experience directing programmes such as Crimewatch and The Bill; he also received a BAFTA nomination in 1996 for his short The Last Post. He teams up with another debutant, Aschlin Ditta, who worked on The Catherine Tate Show before penning the Scenes Of A Sexual Nature script.
In the video Ed Blum takes you on a guided tour of some of the places where the film shot on Hampstead Heath and reveals how to get top actors for peanuts.
Scenes Of A Sexual Nature is released in UK cinemas on Friday 3rd November 2006.
