How can I set the BBC website as my homepage?

These guides are for the latest version of each browser, so please ensure that you have updated your browser otherwise the advice below may not work.

Windows

Internet Explorer

1. Choose Tools then Internet Options from the sub menu 
2. Then click on the General tab
3. Under the Home page section type in www.bbc.co.uk
4. Click Apply and then OK

Alternatively, if you are already on the www.bbc.co.uk page then follow steps 1 and 2 and press the Use current button which will insert the full URL automatically in the text field.

Mozilla Firefox

1. Choose Tools from the main menu, then Options from the sub-menu
2. Click on the Home section
3. In the Homepage and new windows area, choose Custom URLs... then type www.bbc.co.uk into the text field below
4. Exit the Options tab

Alternatively, if you are already on the www.bbc.co.uk page then follow steps 1 and 2 and press the Use Current Page button which will insert the full URL automatically in the text field.

Google Chrome

1. Click on the three vertical dots at the top right of the browser
2. Then choose Settings
3. Under the Appearance section, switch on the Show Home Button
4. Type www.bbc.co.uk into the Enter custom web address section

Opera

1. Select Settings from Menu, then Preferences...
2. Click on the General tab
3. In the Homepage text field type www.bbc.co.uk
4. Click OK

Mac

Safari

1. Select Safari from the main menu, then Preferences...
2. Click on the General section
3. In the Homepage text field type www.bbc.co.uk

Alternatively, if you are already on the www.bbc.co.uk page then follow steps 1 and 2 and press the Set to Current Page button which will insert the full URL automatically in the text field.

1. Select Firefox from the main menu, then Preferences...
2. Click on the Home section
