D-Day 75: A Tribute to Heroes, featuring live coverage of the National Commemorative Event on Southsea Common as well as veteran testimony and a spectacular flypast featuring the Red Arrows, was broadcast on BBC One.
This was followed by a special edition of The One Show broadcast live from a ship taking veterans to Normandy as it leaves Portsmouth, saluted by planes and ships specially assembled to honour them. You can watch this episode of The One Show here on BBC iPlayer.
D-Day 75: Remembering the Fallen was broadcast live from Bayeux War Cemetery in Normandy on BBC One. Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, together with other foreign dignitaries joined hundreds of veterans for a poignant service of commemoration and remembrance.
A highlights edition of the two events, hosted by Sophie Rayworth, was broadcast on BBC Two.
D-Day 75: Return to the Beaches, following three hundred veterans as they board a ship to return to the D-Day beaches in Normandy, was shown on BBC Two.
