RAY OF LIGHT
13 March 2007

He's the only student who has steered clear of the bottom three, but Ray isn't taking anything for granted. Even so, you'd be hard pressed to stop this man enjoying himself.
On the first few shows, Ray belted out anthems and blew the judges away. But just when Stubbs mania started to gather pace, Ray performed some swing numbers and the judges weren't so complimentary.
Tonight however, Ray will be back in his 'comfort zone', singing Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick.
"I am so excited about this..." Vocal Coach David smiled. "Two nights of different kinds of songs, now back to anthems."
"In a bizarre way, I have really enjoyed the last two nights," an upbeat Ray confessed. "It would have been less enjoyable to do the same thing all the time. It's weird I enjoyed it so much."
Despite being back to singing what he does best, Ray isn't assuming for a minute that he'll sail through: "Anything like this, it can step up and bite you on the bum at any time... If you go in to anything thinking you're safe, isn't that when you fail?"
And although you've always voted to keep him in, winning hasn't even crossed Ray's mind: "You have to take every day at a time... all you can do is concentrate on your bit. Whatever happens, happens," Ray said matter-of-factly.
"You just have to go out thinking 'I've done the best I can with that'."
"That's a fantastic attitude!" David told him.
Hooray for Ray!
