TWINKLE TOES

14 March 2007

This morning the students faced yet another challenge, when some professional Irish dancers joined their fitness class.

"Lord of the Dance!" Kevin announced as three members of the hit show danced their way in to the studio.

Colin was like a Cheshire cat as he checked out the speedy footwork, Shaun happily clapped along and the girls were just gob-smacked.

"That was fantastic!" Tricia gasped.

"How do you move your feet so fast?" Angellica asked in disbelief.

But they were about to find out, as the guest dancers weren't just there to perform, they were there to teach our students some steps. And they really had their work cut out.

Everything we do is all about a beat," dancer Bernadette told them. "So you kick out and then 'treble'..." she explained as her legs and feet moved at high speed to demonstrate.

After attempting to perform the 'treble', the students realised just how difficult Irish dancing actually is. With legs flying all over the place Colin joked: "I was in Lord of the Dance, I've just forgotten, all right?"

"What? Were you serving ice cream at half time?" Shaun quipped as he too randomly kicked his legs in the air.

Tara was also finding that she's no lord, or lady, of the dance: "Oh my God! You have to be so coordinated!" she whined, before collapsing on the floor in a heap.

Ray went about it with gusto, but his footballing background might have hindered him and he ended up looking like he was skipping.

Well done though guys, remember it's the taking part that counts...
