TARA THE TORTOISE
08 March 2007

Tara had a few tears during vocal training this morning, feeling she wasn't good enough for the competition, but Carrie was on hand to offer support.
At the beginning of the class, Tara was feeling low about performing Jolene, but after some words of encouragement from her vocal coach, she was soon back to cracking jokes.
"I'm not good..." Tara told Carrie. "I'm not feeling 100 per cent, I feel weak..."
"That's OK to feel weak, you are permitted," Carrie sympathised. "The Academy is all about learning."
"How am I going to get through this?" Tara whimpered. "I don't want to be the first one to cry. It's so tough... I feel like the weakest link."
"I love teaching you!" Carrie beamed, "I'm excited about your voice... everyone loves you here, don't be so hard on yourself! If you are slow to learn, that's cool. It's like the hare and the tortoise, keep going."
"Yes, I'm a tortoise," Tara said, managing a giggle.
"How are you feeling about Jolene?" Carrie asked her. "I'd like Dolly's boobs!" Tara grinned and then started to sing.
When Tara's giggles threatened to turn into tears again, Carrie told her: "It's fight or flight tonight."
"I will fight... but I might be on a flight too!" Tara smiled.
