Spawning glory

Steve Backshall finds some aerial frogspawn hanging over a forest pool.

Frogs have many ingenious ways of protecting themselves and their young. In Colombia poison dart frogs are brightly coloured and secrete a deadly mucus through their skin if threatened. The Embera people of Colombia's Choco Mountains have taken advantage of the frogs' defence mechanism as Charlotte Scott discovers in Search for a poison dart frog.
