Wildlife cameraman John Aitchison experiences what it's like to be in the middle of a bustling Antarctic fur seal colony. But it's not only seals that he needs to watch out for. John needs to keep his wits about him as an opportunist has its eye on his belongings.

Cameraman John Aitchison gets into the thick of a seal colony

Fur seals were once hunted on Bird Island but their numbers have increased dramatically in recent years. British Antarctic Survey researchers now monitor seal populations and behaviour.
