From Budapest to Balado

In a year that saw a plethora of young singer-songwriters making it big, few made a bigger splash than Bristol’s George Ezra, who has become one of 2014’s most talked about new artists.

The husky-voiced singer broke onto the scene with his bluesy, acoustic ballads and was instantly compared to heroes Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. No pressure then!

After signing a deal with Columbia records, Ezra posted his song ‘Budapest’ online as a free download and in little more than six months, the song had been played five million times on YouTube, taking root across Europe, topping the charts in an incredible 12 countries.

His first two EP releases - Did You Hear The Rain? and Cassy O’ - both hit the top 10 on UK iTunes and left a trail of sold out shows, including a 22-date debut UK tour. Ezra also made the top five of the BBC Sound of 2014, as well as Ones to Watch lists from the likes of Vevo, Xfm, iTunes & MTV. Big things lie ahead.
