- Franz Schubert 1797–1828
Symphony No. 6 in C major, D 589
Einsamkeit, D.620 (orch. Detlev Glanert)
Symphony No. 5 in B flat major
A chance to hear two brilliant symphonies by a composer who was only twenty when he finished the later of them. They exude charm and a feast of glorious melody such as only Schubert could produce.
At around twenty minutes long, his song Einsamkeit is one of his longest and is like a whole scene of an opera. Soprano Lucy Hall promises to catch its many moods.
