Brahms’s Second Symphony
Two great celebratory works: the irresistible high spirits of Dvořák’s Carnival Overture and the spring-like freshness and joyous mood of Brahms’s Second Symphony, one of the most popular of all romantic symphonies. There’s also the youthful passion of Bruch’s First Violin Concerto, a jewel of romantic violin music, played here by Jennifer Pike.
