B.o.B - Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend
North Carolina's Bobby Ray Simmons is a rapper on the rise with a rapidly expanding legion of fans and critics. The 23 year old producer and performer shot to to top of the charts in both the UK and US in 2010 with debut single Nothin' on You and repeated the feat only three months later with the Hayley Williams voiced Airplanes.
B.o.B has been dropping mixtapes since 2007 and first came to wider attention with a guest spot on T.I.'s 2008 album Paper Trail. T.I. returned the favour two years later, alongside a host of star names, including Paramore's Williams, Bruno Mars and Janelle Monáe on Simmons' critically acclaimed debut album The Adventures of Bobby Ray.
Guest spots on Jessie J's Price Tag and an appearance at 1Xtra Live 2010 followed, as the sounds of B.o.B took over the British airwaves. We welcome Bobby Ray back to the UK with new album Strange Clouds in his armoury. This time the hip hop star has enlisted the help of Lil Wayne, Nelly and André 3000, as Simmons assembles a live set so full of hits we may struggle to fit any other acts on the bill.
