The BBC was instrumental in breaking the invincible Florence + The Machine way back in 2008, providing Ms. Welch and her band with a springboard to subsequent international superstardom. The mesmeric musical outfit from South London have gone on to win a glittering array of prestigious awards, steal the show at star-studded events on both sides of the Atlantic and create two number 1 selling albums in the UK.

Before this widespread acclaim, BBC Introducing showcased the then largely unknown Florence on their stage at SXSW in Austin, Texas, where the flame haired fashionista sparked the attention of many with a splash in the venue's paddling pool.

Hackney 2012 will mark an important moment for the one time Big Weekend headliner as Flo and her cohorts stop off in their home town in the middle of a two year world tour. If you haven't yet experienced her powerful and haunting vocals live, this is a unique opportunity not to be missed.
