- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky 1840–1893
Piano Concerto No 1 in B flat minor, Op 23
- Anton Bruckner 1824–1896
Symphony No 6 in A major
The BBC Philharmonic under Chief Conductor Juanjo Mena have earned an enviable reputation for their performances of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 6. On this, the third concert of their European Tour, they bring the work to Cologne’s modern Philharmonie concert hall. Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto is performed by the legendary Ivo Pogorelich, who catapulted to stardom after famously being eliminated from the 1980 International Chopin Competition, despite being proclaimed a ‘genius’ by Martha Argerich.
