2009: Jade's "Pre-match" Interview
Earlier today, we put in a phone call to Moscow and had a final chat with Jade before she takes to the Eurovision stage on behalf of the UK. Our Message Board and Twitter users sent in some great questions:
Have you taken any good luck charms with you to Moscow? (Question from Martinosaurus)
I don't really have lucky charms, but I have lucky numbers. My lucky number is 13, which is good because we went to 13 countries before coming out to Moscow on the promotional tour!
Are you happy with your position in the draw, and do you think you'll stand out? (Wbositg)
I'm over the moon. I think we've been really lucky to be singing third from the end of the show. And the fact that we're surrounded by up-tempo songs and all the ballads are on earlier is also really good for us.
Which country poses the biggest threat to you? (Tom_ra)
Would you ever consider hosting the ESC? And if so, who would you like as your co-presenter? (Jeff44)
The thing is - I actually hate the sound of my talking voice. But I guess I could give it a go! And for my co-presenter - it would have to be Graham Norton.
Do you think you'll be able to enjoy you three minutes on stage on Saturday? (sunsetteam)
I'm really hoping so because it's something I've dreamt of for a long time and it would be horrible if I got terrified on stage. So I want to treat it as another performance and enjoy the night.
Will your family and friends be in the audience? (sunsetteam)
My mum, dad, brother and sister will all be there. Can't wait!
Is there a lot of pressure for the second dress rehearsals knowing that you're being marked by the juries? (whoknowsnow)
Yeah it's a lot of pressure. Because you always like to think that a rehearsal is a rehearsal, but knowing that you're being marked and judged is slightly daunting. But I guess it's good because you get two shots at it, instead of having to rely on one perfect performance.
How do you feel that the song and you have evolved since January? (whoknowsnow)
Oh god, so much. I can't look back at that first performance - it sounds awful! I definitely feel that I've made it my own and that I've put my own spin on it. Lyrically, I feel as though I connect with it a lot more. I also feel that it's more of a joint effort now.
What hairstyle are you going for on the night - curly or straight? (iJarhead)
I don't know actually - we're still debating. I think when we put the dress and make-up on - we'll decide. The dress is designed by Amanda Wakely. I've got diamond jewellery designed by Theo Fennell whose done stuff for the Beckhams and Elton John. We've also got a gorgeous crystal mic. All very blingy!
And finally, from all of us here in the UK - all the very best of luck for Saturday night. And bring on London 2010!
Thank you so much! And I'll do my best - I'm working on it!
