The Scout and Girl Guiding Associations, both nationally and world
wide, aims to enable young people to grow mentally, physically and
spiritually. Our promises ask us to have a belief in God. By encouraging
young people to visit Temples, Mosques, Synagogues, Churches etc we
learn to accept each others differences and we grow together though
our understanding.
We
do not parade our faiths or beliefs but live them. Each member is
encouraged to follow their own faith and beliefs at the same time
as respecting others.
Building
time in into our programmes for worship is important no matter where
we are, at a weekly meeting, at camp, exploring and hiking or alone.
The wonders of the world can bring about some of our most spiritual
moments like watching a young person doing something they thought
impossible like crawling out of a hike tent on a frosty morning
at sun rise or simply walking with a stranger with only the common
bond of guiding or scouting.
Baden
Powell believed that Brotherhood could bring about World Peace and
it's true for whenever we join together, meet though our understanding
of each others faiths, beliefs and cultures, we spend time in understanding
and unity, be it at our weekly meeting or a week long Jamboree.
At
Kirby-Le-Soken we will be putting this into practice in a big way,
nearly 8000 young people and leaders will be living together, sharing
faiths, belief and cultures.
My
team 'The God Squad' will be there. Offering daily pray and worship.
We are a very mixed bunch of Muslims, Sikhs, Jews, Christians, Hindus
and Buddhists. Each day at camp we will have a Focus Faith of the
Day where we'll encourage everyone to learn about different Faiths.
Each
of us has put our faith in God to be there with us so come and see
us!
