Rotary Clubs are collecting across Essex. If people want to send cheques, they should be made payable to Billericay Rotary Club Benevolent Account, c/o John Wilcock, 24 Martingale, Benfleet, SS7 3DP. Contact your local branch for details of fundraising in your town.

Local mum Julia Gibson is once again help the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal, she has joined forces with the Letchworth Dhama Nikethanaya Buddhist Centre, they intend to build an orphanage and school in Sri Lanki, they are currently fundraising and need to raise £90,000. They are also appealing for new beds, cupboards, bedlinen, etc.

Meadows Shopping Centre in Chelmsford has teamed up with Dragon Air at Stansted and is sending out one ton of aid three times a week, for four weeks.

Meadows are only collecting the following items, due to shipping regulations for this area:

Toothpaste, toothbrushes, face cloths, soap, dettol, tampons, Milton Sterile Fluid, antiseptic cream, small plastic utensils (knives, forks, spoons only), small plastic plates, bowls and cups.

Meadows has already collected five loads of aid to be sent.

Events to raise money for tsunami disaster appeal

South Hanningfield villagers have got togeather to plan the following events:
Indoor Boot Sale/Table Top Sale on Saturday mornings 29th January, 26th February and 2nd April, doors open at 9.30am.

There's a coffee morning on Saturday 29th January at the Maurice Rowson Hall, Church Road, Gosfield from 10 to 12.

Saturday 29th January. The event is a coffee morning being held at the New Church Hall, Queen Street, Brightlingsea, from 10.00am untill 1.00pm. Entrance will be £1 which includes coffee and there will be a number of stalls selling bric-a-brac, books/jigsaws and unwanted Xmas presents.

There's a charity event on Saturday 29th January at the Elmbridge Clun, Ilford. The show will star five students from Honey Kalaria’s Ilford dance academy, alongside Bollywood stars.

On Sunday 30th January there's a sponsored bounce by local children, South Hanningfield - time to be confirmed.

"Wandering Soles", folk duo are at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Layer de la Haye. Performance is on Friday 4th February, it starts at 8pm, tickets cost £5, there'll also be a bar and raffle. Tickets are available from the village shop, on the door or by phoning Liz Appleby on 01206 734493.

The Horace Stone Orchestra and Singer will be at the United Reform Church in High St, Great Baddow on the Friday 11th February at 7.45. Tickets £6.

On Saturday 12th February a Table Top sale from 10.00am to 2.00 pm. Tables cost £5.00 at the Salvation Army Hall in Mitchells Avenue, Canvey Island.

Saturday 12th February Charity Disco at The Chelmer Village Hall 8pm - midnight, bar and raffle. Tickets are £5 each. Raffle prizes are required if any one has anything that they would like to donate then please contact Pat on 07739776320.

Saturday 12th February The Salvation Army at Mitchells Avenue on Canvey Island is holding a Table top sale from 10.00 to 2.00pm. For a table please ring 01268 681772.
