States of Emotion to play Glasto

Radio 1's Huw Stephans and Zane Lowe have announced the BBC Introducing stage line-up at the Glastonbury Festival 2009, with Chelmsford States of Emotion being part of the bill.

States of Emotion

Happy to be playing at Glasto

The news comes shortly after BBC Essex Introducing's Mike and Ollie where asked to put forward festival nominations for the year, including T in the Park, Reading and Leeds and Radio 1's Big Weekend.

Each local Introducing show across the country followed suit, before a panel from the national Introducing show and whittled down nearly 200 nominations to just over 30.

The Chelmsford lads, Olly, Brick, Bonzai and Luke are four "young, dangerously talented and jagged musicians" boasts their website.

Mike from BBC Essex Introducing would not disagree:  "When we first came across these guys we where blown away by the musical integrity and quality of their music."

"When we heard from Radio 1 last month that the band were to play Glasto I couldn't be happier, they suited the festival and definitely deserve it.

"When I told the band they had made the line-up I had to hold the phone from my ear from the cheers!"

By playing the stage, the band will also have their music aired across Radio 1 and BBC Essex Introducing and their performance will be filmed and published.

States of Emotion have just recorded three tracks at Modern World Studios with Greg Haver, who has worked with the likes of Manic Street Preachers.  News that their album was going to be released in November 2009 was unleashed online alongside the Glastonbury news.

The band who formed in 2005, spoke of their festival debut, saying:  "We couldn't be happier with the news, it's honestly going to be the highlight of our summer."

If you want to see their festival performance they are the headline warm-up act on the BBC Introducing stage on Sunday, 28, June (located in the park).

Past BBC Essex Introducing act successes have included Magistrates from Chelmsford and Baddies from Southend at Radio 1's Big Weekend and Ipso Facto of Southend at last year's Reading and Leeds, plus a guest performance last year from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

Do you want the chance of playing the festivals for the rest of this year?  We've still got Reading and Leeds and Bestival to go as well as next year!

Upload your music to the newly launched BBC Introducing website.
