BaddiesOllie Winiberg-Bettell Fresh from the Introducing stage at Radio One's Big Weekend, Southend band 'Baddies' join Mike and me for a live session. Plus, I review the Upload all-dayer festival in Grays. One of BBC Essex Introducing's newest favourite band from Southend, Baddies, have literally come off the Introducing stage at Radio One’s Big Weekend. ![]() Baddies play live on the show (Pic: Al Underwood) The boys join us in the studio to not only chat about the experience of it all, but also to play two of their tracks live in session. It was not so long ago that I was wandering the virtual streets of myspace, searching through and looking for some new Essex bands to play on the show. I then found Baddies. Punchy, melodic, great image, choruses with a great hook! Immediately I e-mailed them and demanded they send me their fantastic tunes. It just so happens the guys had already been on Huw Stephen’s Introducing show on Radio One and were beginning to have a lot of attention for their music. Already a fan of Baddies? After seeing All Systems Go front-man Jack Cooper drink from the toilet before heading on stage, I knew I was in for a great day. But they did a great job of kick-starting the event. Anybody that has been to an all-dayer will appreciate that halfway through the event the crowd start to get a bit bored and restless. But the team behind the event were very quick with things like helping with band changeovers, getting the sound to its best and making sure that everything backstage ran as smoothly as possible. But not only was that all great, but the organisation of the event was brilliant. Some of the bands needed urgent attention, but all-in-all I will definitely be attending another Uploader.
