Essex Mile Sharers

Some of the biggest employers in Essex are encouraging their staff to car share and BBC Essex listeners are also joining in, around 200 have now become BBC Essex Mile Sharers. The average car sharer saves around £800 a year in fuel costs.

Dominque Jarvis and Sue Thake began sharing their journey to work a few weeks ago, they both say they've saved money and it's made the travelling time more enjoyable.

Sue used to get to work by bus and was moaning about the cost when Dominque offered to pick her up on her way to work.

"It's definitely assisting the sting we're all feeling from fuel costs"

They haven't looked back and now have a successful car sharing partnership.

If you're interested in car sharing and you'd like to find someone who does a similar journey you can log on to liftshare.com via this website and register your travel details.
