The event took place at Waterfront Place in Chelmsford and was hosted by BBC Essex's Sport Producer, Glenn Speller.

The awards were organised by sportessex, to celebrate and recognise the very best in the Essex sport scene, whether they are participants or those who give their all behind the scenes.

Over 200 people attended the ceremony and they saw winners and shortlisted nominees collect a variety of awards that included those for athletic achievement, future potential, coaching prowess and behind-the scene heroics.

The winners on the evening were as follows:

Sports Personality of the Year
Saskia Clark from West Mersea Yacht Club.

Saskia started yachting off the Essex coast at the age of eight and earlier this year she was selected for the British team for next year's Beijing Olympics.

To add to Chloe’s achievements, she has also represented Great Britain at the World Championships in the Czech Republic where she won Gold in the medley relay.
