BBC Essex Presenters
Mike and Ollie play the best new music
Introducing... Mike Bromfield and Ollie Winiberg
Let the unsigned pioneers, Mike and Ollie, bring you the best in local unsigned bands in 'BBC Essex Introducing...' every Friday evening from 7pm.
We LOVE music – we love playing it, recording it, listening to it, promoting it and talking about it. In fact we're pair of music freaks who can't wait to present BBC Introducing – a show which plays the best music from emerging talent across the country.
Our new show will play the best, hottest and most exiting new music from emerging talent, unsigned bands and breaking artists from across the county.
Who knows, the music you hear on our new Friday night show, could be the very same tracks you hear on MTV a few months down the line.
Our new show ‘BBC Essex Introducing’ will be run in conjunction with other regional BBC ‘introducing’ shows and the best new acts from each region will be played on our sister station – RADIO 1!
If you’re a music fan, tune in to hear your new favourite bands and if you're an undiscovered musical talent from Essex, and want YOUR music to be considered for airplay, we'd love to hear from you.
If you are an unsigned band and want the chance of hearing you music on BBC Essex, you can e-mail them or send a demo CD to:

Mike's BIG questions:
What was your first radio memory?
Sitting in the garden when I was very young, with a dictaphone, pretending to record my own show!
How did you first get into radio?
Purely by coincidence! Ollie and I were invited onto John Hayes & Etholle George's breakfast show in June '07 for an interview regarding our strong involvement with the music scene in Southend.
Gerald Main, the station's Managing Editor, happened to be listening to the show and liked how we sounded, so phoned into the show and offered us a job live on air!
What is your favourite song ever?
I don't have a favourite. It's impossible to put my finger on one, but at the moment it's the unsigned band 'Vinny Vinny' from Southend, with "Should've let me go".
What one thing makes Essex so special?
I don't think I could say anything other than its amazing music culture. It is thriving with venues, bands, musicians - and many many talented ones at that - and I think those who are part of it should be proud!
