Essex has many hidden secrets, from underground bunkers in the heart of the countryside to miles of secret passages hidden below Colchester. But for the thrill seeking among us Essex is now home to a sport that's rising in popularity which can keep even the biggest adrenalin junkies happy.

Forget the peace and quite of the countryside we're used to, nestled in the heart of South Essex is a six acre lake which has been transformed into a playground for hovercraft and has become a haven for people seeking a bit of exhilaration. With a hovercraft you are floating on a cushion of air 9 inches above the ground, you have no wheels, you have no brakes, you're at the mercy of gravity, and the wind often tries to muscle in and push you around. This makes it a unique experience and one that BBC Essex's Tom Warmington just had to try out. Watch the video now to see how he got on. Essex is home to a wide and varied amount of fun and exciting activities, if you'd like us to try one out contact us at essex.online@bbc.co.uk |
